How Pelican works for kitchen teams

Your kitchen sets Pelican up on its own. One person creates the business, invites the others by link, and from then on everyone adds to the same order list. The owner never has to open the app or create an account. At the end they just get a payment link.

Step 1: Create the business

One person on the team creates the business, usually the head chef or the sous chef. On iPhone you do this on the website: Create business. On Android you can also do it right in the app. You enter your name, the business name, your email and a password. The 30 day trial starts right away, and you don’t need any payment details.

Step 2: Get the app and sign in

Download Pelican from the App Store or Google Play and sign in with the same email and password. Your business is already there.

Step 3: Invite the team

  1. In the app: Menu, then Team, then Invite team member.
  2. Pick a role and share the invite link, for example on WhatsApp.
  3. The team member opens the link, creates a profile on the website and then signs in to the app.

Team members don’t sign up on their own and don’t pay anything. Every invite link belongs to your business.

How many people can join: Solo up to 3, Basic up to 5, Pro unlimited. Billing is per business, not per person.

Step 4: Order together

Whoever notices something is running low says it into the phone or types it, each in their own language. Pelican recognises the item and the quantity, sorts by category and merges duplicates. When the rep arrives, you check off in the app what has been ordered. If nobody comes, the list goes out as a PDF, by email or on WhatsApp.

After 30 days: activate the team

  1. Sign in at getpelican.app/dashboard with your app login.
  2. Choose a plan, monthly or yearly.
  3. Pay yourself or send the payment link to the owner on WhatsApp.
  4. As soon as the payment goes through, the whole team is activated.

The owner only opens the link and pays. They don’t need an account or the app. Good to know: the subscription starts with the payment, and remaining trial days are not added on. What the owner sees afterwards is explained in How it works for owners.

Common questions from the team

Does the owner have to install the app?

No. The owner just gets the payment link and pays. If they want, they can see the status, the team and the order history in the owner portal, without the app.

What does Pelican cost me as a team member?

Nothing. Pelican is paid once per business. Everyone who is invited uses the app at no cost.

Can we try Pelican before anyone pays?

Yes. Every new business gets 30 days free, without payment details. You only activate it once you’re convinced.

What happens to the orders when someone leaves?

The order history stays with the business. Nobody takes the knowledge with them, and anyone new can see what was ordered, when and from whom.

Do we need new devices?

No. Pelican runs on the phones and tablets you already have, on iOS and Android.
